Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) are trailing students of various Universities in Kenya who have been raising money through M-Pesa bill to finance and radicalize their unsuspecting colleagues. The team leader-Isaac Mogere alias Omogambi was arrested in Nairobi sometimes back in 2015 by the ATPU and charged in court with terror related charges. The student by then was planning to blow up the Maasai Mara university in one of the night before opening. This was countered before the action. He is out on Bond. The suspect together with others who were mentioned -Munenge Monandi, Shaaban Silva,Bonface Mogusu, Abdulkarim Kassim, warqo Abdi Ismael, Ogeto Masira and others are said to have registered an M-pesa paybill number to raise money for purposes of traveling to North eastern Kenya for complete radicalization.

A police officer who refused to disclose his identity due to the sensitivity of the matter said that they are trailing a number of more than 90 students from various universities who are being suspected to be planing various attacks during the holidays and when universities open early next month. "We are worming all Kenyans let no one tell you send money to any paybill number and you just pick a phone and send money, these are con-men, and terrorists which the government is fighting day and night. and if you want to be part of it we will catch up with you" Said the officer.
The students who are said to be using social media platforms to solicit for money from their unsuspecting colleagues are said to have raised thousands of money in their accounts. our efforts to speak to safaricom over the matter did no bear fruits since the relations manager declined to discuss the matter saying that was stuff meat to be addressed by the senior management.
Recently Police headquarter sent a signal to all the police posts, stations and patrol bases asking all officers to be alert and intensify patrols and sharing of intelligence information over the holidays, this was a signal that the police Service was not taking chances on security matters.
