BUSIA TURNS AWAY FROM FORMER ‘KANU’ LUMINARY AMOS WAKO
B
usia county senator Amos Wako is facing it rough in Busia after resident from all the communities (Teso and Luhya) turned away from him terming him a ‘tribal cocoon’ this comes days after Amos Wako declared that he is not going to support any aspirant in Busia because he ‘bought’ his certificate from ODM and that he stands nothing to lose because after all he has an international job.
Amos Wako
Okia Omtata Okoit
Speaking in Busia stadium Amos declared that he is not going to bend down and ask for any support from any one vying for any position in the county.  However there are claims that Amos Wako is fueling the differences between Ojaamong and Otuoma for reasons that after Otuoma takes over he will ask him to revise all the appointments done by ojaamong and revise the boundaries at Nambale, Kapina and Mungatsi where there has been a long term dispute between the Tesos and Lukhyas.
The clan elder from Kwangamoru, Clement Omurocho  said that they are planning to back Okia Omtata Okoit because he is representing the face of Busia county and not one tribe.
Okia Omtata is said to have entered the race for purpose of uniting the Teso community and their counterparts the Luhya who have since lived in peace and shared major town-Busia but only to develop bitter exchange because of Amos Wako’s influence in the county politics.
‘Busia county Needs a leader, who is universal, focused, understands the needs of the people and unites us all. And that leader is Okia Omtata Okoit.’ Said Andrew Amdanyi from Sio Port. ‘We are not going to tolaret Amos Wako’s poor mentorship and leadership, this is not what our children want in the county’ –He added.
Reliable sources indicate that Amos Wako is likely to lose the election to Okia who is currently vying  for Busia County senator position on a FORD KENYA TICKET.

BUSIA CON MAN ON THE RUN, BEING TRAILED BY POLICE

 By: Margaret Gachanja.

PROTUS OPIYO OKOIT’S 10 YEARS OF FRAUD IS OVER
The former College of Business manager Protus Opiyo Okoit who allegedly defrauded friends,  co-workers and other Businessmen in Busia County of close to KShs 1.5 million while a fugitive from law enforcement authorities on earlier charges is being sought by police in Busia.
Protus was  known in Busia as a public Polytechnic Manager. He worked at a Nambale College of business, where he allegedly charmed at least 19 investors into backing a real estate project. Others gave him properties and were given postdated cheques which never matured and other sold him cars. He did so while hiding his criminal past, concocting a story of him being on ‘leave of absence’ from the civil service, and using a series of aliases to hide his true identity, according to authorities and interviews with his alleged victims.
The imposter who was identified as Protus Opiyo Okoit, who hails from Kwangamoru, Amukura Division in Busia county is said to be a man of all colors pretending to be a director of a college, a manager of a polytechnic and a strong business man who imports cars and sales to potential customers.
“He is such a bad person and has hurt so many people,’’ Gregory one of his victims said in an e-mail on Friday. “I don’t think they will find him, considering his past.”
For years, Protus was the guy who got away. He had a knack with people, Gregory and others said, a raconteur with brains and a taste for fine wine. He wowed investors with his seeming empathy, his false boasts of having an active trust fund, and his knowledge on an array of subjects.
He slipped away from authorities for the first time in 2010, while operating a business in Mumias town and Kisumu in 2011. He fled after he was sought by the police for issuing fake bouncing cheques to unsuspecting customers
From 2011 through 2016, Protus is alleged to have solicited cash from young people who were looking for employment in the armed forces, teaching profession and medical. He promised investors returns ranging from 7 to 30 percent. In all, he pledged to pay out more than 125 percent of the profits he expected to gain in a sale of the property, according to the complaint.
One investor, now a resident of Busia town, withdrew Kshs 780,000 from her Barclays Bank account on the promise she would get her money back with 50 percent interest, in 60 days.
But by last month, investors were worried. Protus kept delaying the close of the real estate deal, at a cost of Ksh200,000 each time
Police are asking everyone who is a victim to come out and record a statement to help them arrest and prosecute the suspect who is said to hiding in one of the slums in Kisumu County.
Police have also release his details as follows.

UON ENTREPRENEURSHIP GRADUATE TAKES LEAD IN BUSIA COUNTY WOMAN REPRESENTATIVE RACE.

A University of Nairobi Graduate who served in various
Susan Auma Mang'eni.
organizations as a director has brought a nightmare to the contestants
of the Busia County Woman Rep. Race.
Susan Auma Mang’eni who hails from Busia County is creating steers
in the political field threatening to bring down the one tern reign of the
current incumbent Frorence Mutua. Susan who has become ‘a darling’
of the locals is said to have given up her job to go to her home county
to vie for a sit that requires “financially heavy weight”
The locals have fallen in “love” with one of their own saying that the
Current MP has done nothing and that she has never appeared in the county since she was elected in 2013 and that Busia has missed so many opportunities to develop and assist its locals.
Susan is recognized in Busia County as a community leader, a mentor, role model and candidate for Woman Rep. 2017, she has the strength and confidence, yet responsive leader. She is respectful and humble before community influential, yet assertive enough to take ownership of her accomplishments in front of audiences that are skeptical of politicians.
Although Susan is one of the strongest, and most strategic leaders in Busia she still has a long way to go since August is a little bit far, her quest for one of Kenya’s 47 newly created Woman Representatives seats in the National Assembly as a young, female candidate may be challenged by the social and cultural realities that have historically faced women vying for office in Kenya. Most people expect older, wealthy and well-established male leaders to run for national elected offices, and Susan’s entry into the race breaks many stereotypes and will test the ability of the voters to elect public leaders on their skills and ideas, and not on their gender, family backgrounds, or tribal affiliations.
At the moment Susan is said to have “a political love affair” with all the residents from Luhya land and Teso Land others even claiming that she needs to settle back in Teso where she schooled because of the good character and humility she portrays.
This race in Busia is not business as usual, it’s about “Man of the People”—Susan Mangeni against and individual-Florence Mutua. Others are nowhere Said a clan elder in aremit –Teso South.
